More than a century
dedicated to sculpture

The Haligon Family

The HALIGON’s family studios were established around 1875 by Louis Haligon in Paris, France. From generation to generation, the passion of sculpting was inherited. Louis Haligon (1st Gen.) participated in the enlargement of the Statue of Liberty by Bartholdi in the 1880’s for New York City.

The ancestor of the Haligon family, Louis Haligon, began his career as a sculptor and then started the reproduction of sculpture for his colleagues using the pantograph newly developed by 2 engineers Sauvage and Colas. During his career he worked with Sculptors like Bartholdi, Carrier-Beleuse, Rodin, ... He also worked with several American artists coming to Paris looking for the expertise of French Artisans (Davidson, Haseltine,...). Louis Haligon participated in the enlargement of the Statue of Liberty and sevral other enlargements for Bartholdi.

Louis Haligon married Georgette, daughter of the mechanic that was maintaining the pantographs in the studio. They had one son, Robert Haligon. Robert took over the studio, early on, after the death his father in a tragic accident. He married Arlette Trekker. They had 4 children, Olivier the eldest, Gérard, Marie and Agnès. All 4 children are keeping the tradition alive with one studio in Miami ran by Oliver and Caroline (daughter) and one studio in Paris ran by Gerard and Agnès. Marie is the paint expert (notably for Niki de Saint Phalle works).
